Demoralization is a feeling where someone feels hopeless or helpless. UCSF is studying how psilocybin therapy might help patients in palliative care feel better. This trial is testing the safety and effectiveness of psilocybin compared to other treatments.

open to eligible people ages 18 years and up
This multicenter, triple-blind, phase 2, randomized controlled trial will evaluate the efficacy and safety of psilocybin therapy compared to an active control in treating demoralization in adults near the end of life (≤2 years life expectancy).
