Telehealth clinical trials at UCSF
3 in progress, 2 open to eligible people
Telehealth is a type of medical care that uses technology to connect patients with healthcare providers remotely. At UCSF, we are recruiting participants for clinical trials on telemedicine. One trial is looking at the use of telemedicine to diagnose and treat sleep apnea in stroke patients. Another trial is examining access to dermatology care through a new telemedicine clinical care pathway. Join us to help improve remote healthcare!
Sleep for Stroke Management and Recovery Trial
open to eligible people ages 18 years and up
The purpose of this study is to determine whether treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) with positive airway pressure starting shortly after acute ischemic stroke or high risk TIA (1) reduces recurrent stroke, acute coronary syndrome, and all-cause mortality 6 months after the event, and (2) improves stroke outcomes at 3 months in patients who experienced an ischemic stroke.

Direct-to-patient Teledermatology and Computer-assisted Diagnosis
open to eligible people ages 18 years and up
This study will examine access to dermatology care. The operational partner will implement a direct-to-new patient teledermatology clinical care pathway while the research will study the effects of that implementation, use data associated with deployment to develop and test an Artificial Intelligence system, and understand key stakeholders' attitudes regarding and readiness for remote dermatology care.

Improving Palliative Care Access Through Technology
Sorry, currently not accepting new patients, but might later
This project will focus on developing, optimizing and pilot-testing a multi-component Improving Access Through Technology (ImPAcTT) intervention that leverages existing telehealth technologies to provide staff education; family outreach, engagement and support; care coordination; and resident symptom management and facilitation of goals-of-care discussion.
